About XML UK
XML UK is the United Kingdom forum for discussing and promoting the understanding and use of the Extensible Markup Language in all its fields of application.
The main objective of the group is to share information and experience concerning the use of XML and related standards, which we do primarily through our meetings programme.
We also represent our members' interests in relevant standards activities in the UK. (We are represented on BSI Technical Committee IST/41. Our chairman, Francis Cave, also chairs this Committee.)
XML UK was formed (as SGML UK) at an inaugural meeting in London in March 1992 by a group of British SGML users and supporters who had been meeting regularly under the auspices of the International SGML/XML Users Group (ISUG)since its foundation in 1984. ISUG was closed down at the end of 2006, but XML UK continues to flourish as an independent organisation.
In July 2004 XML UK was formally constituted and registered in the UK as a company limited by guarantee. The company has a Board of Directors, which includes:
